2017 MBC Drama Awards

Hi Shippers...
I'm so sorry for giving you such a late analysis. I really need to pace myself and clear my mind. I don't want to make an analysis hastily so that it will become a subjective analysis.
I hope this analysis is objective, because I made it after I calm myself down and had a clearer mind after all of the disappointments..
Also, I hope this will be a mood booster for you and will make us a better and stronger shipper.

RED CARPET

Kim So Hyun

00:13 Park Seul Gi introduced sohyunie as an actress who had a 찰떡 (calddeok) chemistry with YSH. Means they matched well and stick together like calddeok (rice cake). KSH said it during Ruler MBC Section TV Part 2. (So happy that PSG remembered it)

PSG : waaa, sohyun yang… It’s really nice to meet you. Annyeonghaseyo… You’re so beautiful. Can you tell us what the concept of your dress is today?

KSH : Cream…

PSG asked her if she felt confident to get the award. KSH said he wasn’t so sure about the award, rather than that she felt excited to meet Ruler cast who she hasn’t met for a while.

PSG said that YSH are very busy these days because IANAR filming, so she wondered if KSH met with him. KSH said that she’s already met him before (I think she met him when they waited for photo session)

PSG : What did he said to you?

KSH : anyeong

PSG : Even though YSH Oppa is a Tsundere but he is so cool.

(KSH nodded with smile)

PSG : You’ll turn 20 in 2018, how’s your feeling

KSH : I’m excited but there are some weird feeling. It’s only few days before it (she turns 20 y.o.)

PSG : What do you want to do the most?

KSH : First, drink (alcohol) with my mom…

PSG : Awsome...

then PSG asked KSH to give a new year greeting.

Actually, although I prayed hard for shyshy couple to walk together on Red Carpet, I was already prepared myself for the worst. And it happened… I’m sad of course, but watched YSH gesture during the red carpet session, I felt relieved. It was all written on his face. He didn’t look happy.

He walked first to the stage, and he walked fast. Even though he turned to CSB three times but I can see that he did it just to make sure that she followed him and didn’t fall. Look at the distance between them while they were walking.

After reaching the spot to take photos on the stage YSH immediately put his hands behind his body. There was no space between his arm and his body, is it his gesture to prevent the “holding hand” moment? LOL

YSH pointed to cameramen on his left, I think he told CSB to take photos from their left side first. He looked at his feet to make sure that he didn’t step on CSB dress. He gave the pose using his right hand first, I think it also could be his gesture to prevent the “hold hand” moment.

00:27 YSH put his hands behind his body again and slightly leaned away from CSB. (in other video you’ll find that at first YSH only put his left hand behind his body while his right hand was doing the pose, then when they turned to cameramen on their right side, YSH changed it. He put his right hand behind his body). Unfortunately (or fortunately? lol) I must say that they were really awkward, no interaction, stiff, and less smile from YSH.

00:50 you can see clearly that YSH changed into a “happier mode” when Park Seul Gi approached him and CSB. He smiled widely as if he met with someone he knows and him close to (we know that PSG is pretty close with him since she did many interviews with him, and I can see that YSH always comfortable with PSG)… So, I guess he didn’t really enjoy and comfortable during photo taking session at red carpet.

00:51 PSG unintentionally hit CSB’s hands with the microphone cable, it looks like she was hurt by it. And said, “aahhh” while looking at YSH. You can see at 00:53 that YSH looked at her but immediately looked at PSG. YSH leaned away his body from CSB and there was some distance between them.

PSG : what is the concept of your outfit today?

YSH : Just being neat.

PSG : Today, this is my first time to see pink peach color (of the dress). There are many actresses who already came, they wear black, white till yellow. You’re so beautiful.

CSB : Thank you

PSG : Isn’t it a violation of the rules? (For being too beautiful)

CSB : No, it’s not

(For next part, I can’t go into too much detail because I only understand about 80%, but I can give you the main point about what they were talking about)

PSG said something about YSH who would probably got the awards. Then he asked CSB about it. 

CSB : Yes, it looks like he will get the award. Aren’t you prepare for it (to get the award or prepare the speech), Oppa?

YSH : No (smiled and shook his hand)

PSG : It looks like he already prepared it in his mind (the speech or prepared to become a winner). How about your opinion, Seungho? Our SooBin has to receive the award as well. She is really working hard acts as two characters. 

YSH : Yes, soobin is really working hard. In hot days… (CSB touched his shoulder and said “cold days”) In cold days (corrected his word) anyway, in hot days and cold days. She’s really working hard. So, I hope Soobinssi will certainly get the award.

                                                     

My opinion : *cough* who’s the one who filming with you during the hot days (summer) this year, seungho ya? It was her, right? Our sohyunie, Your Queeen… lol. So even though you are with other woman, Sohyunie will always in your mind….

PSG said something about YSH and CSB drama (Ruler, Rebel and IANAR) which got many nominations, so she wondered if it’s possible that all the awards would be given to them. CSB said, no, because there are many great actors and actresses. Then they were asked to give a new year greeting.

It's PSG who guided YSH to said that he hoped CSB would get the award. Besides, PSG asked CSB first about it. Isn't it rude if he didn't answer the question in the same way? so you guys don't have to worry about it.

also, it happened before during MBC Section TV (Special IANAR). When PSG asked YSH and CSB about the heart fluttering feeling towards each other. CSB said she found YSH very handsome so she sometimes stared at him. PSG told YSH that he must be felt the same because she is beautiful. YSH just said yes. But he didn't say it by himself. It's PSG who guided him to give the answer.

 

When PSG left them and they left the photo zone, YSH back to his flat expression and he slightly looked at his feet to make sure that he didn’t step on CSB dress

YSH and CSB Read the Nominations for Best Character Awards

Look how stiff YSH when he walked. He smiled shyly not because he felt shy around CSB but because he had to read the nomination in kim min gyu character. He glanced at her, but his gaze is different with the gaze for KSH (during 2016 MBC drama awards)

1st Video 

YSH walked stiffly with his both hand held the cue cards. I remember when he walked with KSH last year, he walked casually with only his right hand which held the cue cards. He put his left hand behind his body and read the cue cards seriously. He laughed not because he found it's a little bit embarrassing to read the cue card in their drama characters. At 01:20 he turned to CSB but look at his eyes, it's so different with when he looked at KSH. He always looked at KSH with lovely eyes, even when the haven't closed to each other yet.

2nd Video

At 00:05 YSH looked a little bit confused, and seems like he wanted to ask CSB but he only looked at CSB cue card and immediately continue his sentences. CSB smiled at him but he didn't smile and continue seriously. With KSH last year when he made a little mistake KSH laughed at him and he laughed with her.

Well, you can see that they just followed the script. The way he looked at CSB at 00:11 is very usual. nothing special.

3rd Video

The first part, the special MC asked CSB to continue reading the nomination. But he looked distracted and confused which one of the cue cards to read. Seems like she wanted to ask YSH but YSH didn't look at her and he looked for the right cue card then decided to take over. At 00:42 YSH gave the trophy while CSB gave the bouquet. 00:47 YSH stepped backward without waited for CSB.

4th Video

YSH read the best character award (best fighting spirit acting), look at how he smiled when he knew that L was the winner. His smile was so genuine...

every time YSH and CSB came back to the microphone, YSH always walked first without waiting for her.

Everyone clapped and waved their hands but somehow YSH looked gloomy and sad, blinked several times and even sighed... I know how much you missed the sweets moment with sohyunie during Ruler filming... Seungho ya... please be strong. This hard time, it will be end before you know it.

at 00:46 KSH glanced and smile at YSH... here the GIF and screen capture for that lovely moment

YSH smiled genuinely like a "proud boyfriend"...
when KSH gave her speech YSH looked so happy, smiled genuinely... and at 1:56 (this one made me smile like crazy) YSH slightly opened his mouth, like he said "uwah/ wow"... He was mesmerized by KSH beauty...

At 00:17 KSH laughed because YSH was being teased by the MC. She really paid attention to her Oppa lol. From 00:27 till the rest of the video, KSH looked lovingly at YSH back.

YSH Received the Top Excellence Award

00:15 YSH smiled and immediately turned back (he wanted to see his Queen before stepped into the stage). KSH looked very happy...
YSH said that he received so much love during Ruler filming. Ruler filming was really hard, the staff and actors were working really hard till the end, so he felt bad to receive the award alone. He planned to put the trophy on his shoe rack in his house and he would go to filming tomorrow morning. He will look at the trophy every time he go out so he will remember to do his best.

02:06 KSH looked shock when she heard YSH added his speech, even she stopped to clap her hands. Seems like really she paid attention to YSH.
What's weird is that MBC changed the screen immediately to YSH. Was it because they didn't want to show us KSH expression when YSH promote IANAR?

This speech was similar to his speech at the 2017 SBS Drama Awards. And about mentioned CSB, he did it because CSB did it first. And don't be angry because he didn't mention KSH in his speech. KSH also didn't mention YSH. It's not because they're not grateful towards each other. Both of them are already praised each other in countless times. I guess both YSH and KSH wanted to show their gratitude to all Ruler crews and casts. Because everyone were working hard, not only a certain person. It's because both of them are very well-mannered. We must proud of them....

Do you remember the last time sohyunie got an award from Korea Hallyu Awards? She looked gloomy and she didn't update her SNS. I guess he felt the same way with seungho. She felt bad to receive the award alone while everyone were working so hard for the drama.

Summary:

1. The red carpet, presenting award, and mentioned each other name during the speech were parts of promotion. YSH face and gestures tell us everything.
2. KSH and YSH style always match from head to toe. No wonder we called them as a "match by heaven" couple. Somehow, I saw them as the groom and the bride. If only they walked the red carpet together, it would be perfect *sigh*
3. I don't know why but seems like MBC tried to limit shyshy moments as few as possible. We can barely see them on the screen during three hours and a half. Ruler table was placed at the corner. They arranged YSH and KSH seat so that YSH sat in front of KSH, not side by side (I'm sorry, I said before that they sat side by side because from a certain angle it looked like they sat side by side). Let's say that it's because IANAR promotion.
4. There was no Best Couple Awards, this is the worst thing that happened in the MBC Drama Awards. There was one for MBC Entertainment Awards, but why none for Drama? Did MBC afraid that shyshy would win and made things worst for IANAR? It's so unfair...  Even the teaser and video clip of MBC Drama Awards are all about shyshy couple.
5. This time, KSH looked happy in Red Carpet, and updated her SNS, even three times. I guess she was really happy... it's so different with when she won an award from Korea Hallyu Awards. Very well-mannered KSH and YSH are always think of others before think about themselves.
6. I feel like YSH only gave his genuine smile when PSG approached him at the red carpet photo session, when L won the  best character awards, when KSH won the popularity award and gave her speech, and when YSH gave his speech. 
7. Maybe there are some mistakes of the translation, feel free to correct it.

Additional things:

I’ll give you some tips to save your shipper heart when you feel down and feel like just giving up. When I feel disappointed and feel like giving up, I would get some sleep, have a clearer mind then I tried to put myself in their position. Although I know that I will never understand them 100% because it’s not me who deal with their problem, it’s them. I watched their videos (not only shyshy moments but also their video with other co-stars), more than once. I read my analysis and other's. Then I realized that it’s not the time to give up. I’m already came this far. From the first time I shipped them, I knew that it will be a long journey. I’m ready to be as patient as possible and wait for them. So, this thought came into my mind, “why bother shipping them if I have no faith in them.”

They’re not like songsong couple. It’s a mistake if I want to get their marriage news in the short time. They’re still young. Even if I ship celebrities in their 40’s it’s not like they will definitely get married in the near future. So, all I need are patient and willingness to analyze them (especially because both of them are private person and YSH doesn't have SNS account).

I guess we already knew that every time they make us disappointed they will give us great news afterwards. So far, they always save my shipper heart.

So, I hope you won’t give up.

Don’t put your expectation too high, just keep believing and having faith in them. Be happy but remember to save your shipper heart… so, if something makes you disappointed you won’t fall hard.

Whatever happens, I don’t want you to blame seungho and sohyunie (if similar things happen during RR promotion). We never know what exactly their problems. We just can analyze what showed in videos and articles. So, it’s not 100%. There will be a mistake. Don’t draw a conclusion hastily… try to analyze, if you don’t want to, read other’s analysis as many as possible. It's always better to have 2^nd, 3^rd (and so on) opinion.
